Сказка (Skazka) is a personal environment art project focused on building an abandoned Soviet amusement park. The project is being developed both as a portfolio scene and as a commercial environment pack for FAB, so the production process was built around not only atmosphere and visual storytelling, but also modularity, asset reusability, and overall production value.
The visual direction of the project is based on the contrast between the entertaining nature of an amusement park and the state of abandonment, decay, and overgrowth. In terms of atmosphere and artistic direction, I was inspired by The Last of Us Part II and 28 Years Later, especially in their approach to combining environment design, destruction, wet surfaces, vegetation, and the overall emotional tone of a space.
A major part of the work was focused on building a custom library of modular assets, props, materials, decals, and set dressing elements that could work both in close-up presentation shots and as part of a scalable asset pack. Special attention was given to material variation, vegetation integration, wet surface treatment, and maintaining a consistent visual language across the entire scene.
The project was created using Unreal Engine 5, Blender, Substance 3D Painter, Houdini, ZBrush, and Photoshop. Most of the assets were made specifically for this scene, with the goal of supporting both a strong portfolio presentation and further use in a marketplace-oriented production pipeline.
